Track Congress, insider and institutional stock trades
Insider Option turns three public US disclosure regimes into a searchable, benchmarked dataset: stock trades reported by members of Congress under the STOCK Act, open-market buys and sales by corporate officers and directors on SEC Form 4, and quarterly institutional holdings on SEC Form 13F.
We parse the filings ourselves from the primary sources rather than reselling another aggregator's output, resolve company names to tickers, reconcile amendments, and track what each disclosed position has done since it became public.
The important caveat, stated up front: Congressional disclosures carry a reporting lag of up to 45 days and report amounts only as ranges. Our performance figures are measured from the disclosed transaction price, so they describe what the filer's position did — not what someone following the filing could have captured. Our methodology page sets out exactly what that number is and is not.
- Congressional trades from House and Senate Periodic Transaction Reports, with the filing's owner field preserved so spousal trades are not presented as a legislator's own decision.
- Corporate insider activity from SEC Form 4, filtered by transaction code so option grants and tax withholding are not miscounted as insider selling.
- Institutional positions from SEC Form 13F, with quarter-over-quarter changes.
- Backtested strategies with a named benchmark and a published methodology, including where the approach has underperformed.
- Email alerts on new filings, a portfolio simulator, and a free tier for browsing the parsed data.
